I grew up in the Newport Hills area, played for the Newport Club and Hazen High School. Initially, I began coaching as a junior in high school while recovering from a broken leg in club soccer. I worked my way through college at Western Washington University and University of Washington, but enjoyed playing indoor soccer during college years. Once at UW, I began coaching youth again at Lake Washington Youth Soccer. Coaching was a natural fit for me after ski instructing through high school.
I hold a USSF National “B” Coaching License. Some coaching highlights include winning a top bracket Surf Cup, winning regionals and finishing third at nationals. Also, traveling with a team to Sweden for the Gothia cup was a fantastic experience. 3 former players played for the the US U20 national team, Chilean U20 national team and the Colombian U17 World Cup team. Another former player currently plays professional soccer for the Chicago Red Stars and in Austrialia. The best highlight is watching the players grow into their lives after club soccer. I recently started coaching kids of former players; another true highlight.
My wife Amy and I live in Maple Valley and have adopted our 2 grandkids, Ariana (8) and Caleb (4). We love to golf, camp, hike and “yarden”. I own and run a carpet cleaning business outside of coaching.
